About Ram Cast CIC
Ram Cast CIC is a not for profit company specialising in rammed earth construction, consultancy, research, teaching and building standards. The company was founded by Rowland Keable in 2007, who has over 20 years experience building and researching rammed earth structures across Africa and the UK.
Rammed earth has been used world wide for at least two thousand years, notably in China where the characters 夯土 “Kang-tou” denote rammed earth, the technique which built the Great Wall.
We have been involved in a diverse range of rammed earth projects from public buildings including The Eden Project, Cornwall and The Centre for Alternative Technology, Wales; commercial buildings River Green Developments, Durham as well as several exhibitions including the Chelsea Flower Show and Grand Designs.
Our not for profit basis allows us to be involved in a wider range of work including the implementation of rammed earth building standards, which we are currently pursuing in the Southern African region.
