We have been running building courses for rammed earth with students in the architecture department at the University of East London, invited by Alan Chandler. Alan has taken materials and materiality very seriously and runs regular hands on sessions with students building structures in earth, lime, hemp and timbrel vaulting to name but a few. This project in 2004 was to use fabric formwork, with stunning results.
