Examples in America

Examples here include:

Community Chapel in Mason’s Bend, Alabama.
Work by Rick Joy.

Although the tendency in recent years in the U.S. has been to degrade rammed earth by adding large quantities of unnecessary cement the history of American rammed earth goes back further than that. The work of Ralph Patty at the South Dakota State College in the 1930s allowed people displaced by the depression to build their own homes using what Frank Lloyd Wright referred to as their own ‘sweat equity’. He also designed for the material.
