Rammed earth in Portugal

Portugal, like Spain, has a long association with rammed earth, or Taipa in Portuguese. These are just a few images of old and new work taken on a two day trip to look at a renovation job north of the Algarve. In this area there were thousands of rammed earth buildings, and a variety of other non-cementitious building technologies.
Portugal also has a strong earth building association which has produced a number of very well researched and illustrated publications.
